Subscription products

Overview (TL;DR):

  • Subscription products are a great way to create recurring revenue for your business
  • It allows your customers to check out with the product on your site once and new orders will be placed automatically depending on how you configure the product and which option the customer selects.

How do I set it up?

You'll want to start by going to your Skio Dashboard.

  1. Click on "Products" on the left-hand menu.
  2. If you've added in products into Shopify since installing Skio, click on "Sync Shopify" first to fetch all the current products on your store.

  3. Once you're done syncing, click on "Add product".

  4. This will pull up any products on your store that don't currently have a subscription. Click on the product you want to make a subscription for.
  5. Click on "Add subscribe and save subscription plan" option to create a subscription option.

  6. From here, you'll want to set up your subscription options, which include:

    1. Price option - this option allows you to decide how you want to discount your product for the subscription
      1. Percentage discount
        1. Discount (%) - this discounts the product price by this percentage. For example, if your price costs $100, and you enter a 10%, your subscription product will cost $90
      2. Fixed amount
        1. Price - this will be the price that your customers will pay if they subscribe
    2. Every - this is where you'll enter the interval amount and the interval type. Interval types include week(s), month(s), day(s).  If you enter "4" and "week(s)", that means the subscription will renew every 4 weeks.
    3. Option label (customer facing) - this is how the subscription interval will show to the customer when they are buying the product from your site! Make sure to update this if you change any of the options in the previous field
    4. Order day of the week/month - this option allows you to make sure that your subscriptions always renew on a specific day of the week or day of the month, such as renewing on Friday, or on the 1st of every month.
    5. Minimum number of renewals - this option allows you to set a minimum amount of orders the customer must get before they are able to cancel the subscription.
    6. Maximum number of renewals - the opposite of the above! This option allows you to set a maximum number of renewals. Once this number is hit, the subscription will be automatically cancelled.
    7. On the right, you'll see the option for Group discount.
  7. If you want to set up another interval frequency, you can click on "Add subscribe and save subscription plan" below the option you just made. For example, if you want customers to be able to decide between an order renewing every 1 month or every 2 months, you'd need to set up each as a plan. Keep in mind, you can't mix different interval types. So if your first plan is set up for weeks, then all other plans will also have to be measured in weeks!
  8. Once you've set up all the plans, scroll up, and click "Save" in the top right.

  9. You're done! Now you can go to the product page, and see the new subscribe and save option!
